ORGANIC PIONEER FROM AUSTRIA
“For thousands of years, they have crossed continents with us, traversed mountain ranges and seas with us: our loyal, ever-devoted and supportive fellow travelers. We should be bound also by affection to our companion, the cow.“
WERNER LAMPERT HAS ALWAYS FELT A CLOSE BOND WITH COWS. LOVE FOR THEM WAS A GIFT THAT WAS GIVEN TO HIM IN THE CRADLE, AS HE PUTS IT HIMSELF.
In the book “The cow – a tribute”, this passion has finally found expression. Werner Lampert has made it his personal mission to pay homage to sacred cattle and their near-limitless adaptability.
Apart from his work as an author, Werner Lampert is an entrepreneur who has been campaigning for sustainable, organic food supplies for 45 years.
A PIONEER IN ORGANIC FARMING AND SUSTAINABILITY
Werner Lampert (born in 1946 in Vorarlberg/Austria) was a trailblazer in the field of sustainable produce, playing his part in its growing popularity in Europe. The organic pioneer has had a close interest in organic farming since the 1970s. With Ja! Natürlich [Yes! Naturally] (Rewe) and Zurück zum Ursprung [Back to the roots] (HOFER), he developed two of the most successful organic brands in the German-speaking world.
MY MISSION: SUSTAINABILITY
“We need to do an about-turn in favour of responsible and fair organic farming and consumer goods production.“
The global population is increasing rapidly, climate change is already happening on a horrifying scale, we are in the middle of the 6th mass extinction, clean water and fertile soil are becoming ever rarer on our planet… over the next 20 years, the supply of food will become humanity’s biggest challenge. If we wish to continue to live good and healthy lives in the future, we need to make a fundamental shift towards sustainable, regional agriculture based on solidarity and participation.
THINKING, ACTING AND DOING BUSINESS SUSTAINABLY
Only if we all start to think, act and do business in a sustainable way will we have any chance at all in the future. The key concept is responsibility: farmers and producers must accept responsibility for the wellbeing of mankind and the environment. And consumers need to understand where their products and food come from and that there is a real person behind them.
RESPONSIBILITY REQUIRES TRUST
My mission is to develop high-quality organic food that is produced sustainably and with its provenance fully traceable. This requires transparency and sustainability on all levels, because it is only when we know the person who produced our milk, our cheese or our T-shirt that we can develop trust. Then, on the basis of that trust, we will be willing to take responsibility in our turn.
